Snorkelling at Manly
Oct 2nd, 2006 by Ben
Snorkelling today, with Team Zissou. Sally and I caught the ferry from Gladesville down to Circular Quay and then on to Manly. We met the others there and jumped in first at Manly Wharf. We’d been told there was a ‘colony’ of sea horses there, living in the shark net. After 15 minutes without seeing any, first prize went to Michelle Allen for spotting a little sea horse about 6″ high. I tried to Steve Irwin the thing up to the surface but it wasn’t having any. We saw just the one.
With that slightly disappointing snorkel over on the harbour side of Manly, we walked down the Corso with 445,000 other people who were there for the sun, surf and Sydney Jazz Festival. We fought our way down south to Fairy Bower which turned out the be absolutely magic. We had a top snorkel in water about the 20 degrees mark. Saw the ubiquitous grouper and plenty of other fish. Here are a couple of snaps.

Here’s the gang, and a picture Sam F. took of the two of us.

What a fantastic day. We came home exhausted, but happy. Thank God for his beautiful creation, our beautiful city, the money to travel to places like Manly and have snorkelling gear, and great friends like these.
