Hymnal Design and Binding?

Dan collects hymnals, and he’s just posted some pics, a la J. Mark Bertrand.
What’s the difference between a hymnal, a hymnody and a hymnary? (My muscle memory hasn’t learnt those words for touch typing yet - that last sentence took about a minute to type).
I don’t think you can have A hymnody. Hymnody is the analytical study of hymns, like prosody is the analytical study of poetic metre.
