Report on Aid to Burma
May 20th, 2008 by Ben
My new friend Jono Flegg, who offered to assist with getting aid into Burma, from his base in Thailand, has reported back with what has been purchased.
Here’s his report.
Dear donors (and friends):
Well, thanks to your donations I have been able to purchase and send the first delivery of aid over into Burma.
I have received $2200 to date and have spent $1482 yesterday on the first delivery of goods to go over. Teams of Burmese Christians are going every couple of days, and [name redacted], the Burmese aid organiser from our church is very busy indeed ’saddling’ up his countrymen and women to cross the border.
At the other end the aid is being distributed by the leaders of the Burmese church in the [location redacted]. By tomorrow I am hoping to receive a VCD of the aid being distributed which I will post on YouTube and on my website (technology permitting).
With the help of medical student friend of mine we teaching English to we essentially bought out the university’s low-cost pharmacy of their entire stock in some medicines.
Below is what we purchased on your behalf. Before the next team goes at the end of the week we will have spent the rest of your donation on more aid to send.
Medical supplies:
- 1200 Packs of Oral Rehydration Salts
- 5000 Disento Tablets (Diarrhea Dystenteries and Gastro-Intestinal Infections)
- 3000 Paracetamol tablets (Beramol)
- 108 Dressing sets
- 72 Tubes of Providine Antiseptics
- 6 Full First Aid Kits
