Upstairs Playtime
May 8th, 2008 by Ben
We’re just trying Cordie having playtime in her room upstairs as I type. She has been having playtime a few times a day in the middle of the lounge room, which not only decreases the useable room space in that room to 0.8 sq metres, but also means that you can’t be in the lounge room or she wants to include you in her play. That’s lovely, but part of the reason for playtime is to get some others things done.
So Sally bought a kiddy gate from Bunnings and we double-safed Cordie’s bedroom. We put Cordie in and she decided she wanted to close the main bedroom door as well, as an indication of her desire to have someone else in there with her. (?!) She’s in there now sniffing and scratching at the door like a beagle.
Oh, hang on. Sally’s just come down and reported that it sounds like Cordie’s stopped scratching and started playing.
Good girl.

I guess now we have more important things to do like the dishes and vacuuming…
We still play, don’t we? It’s just our play is ‘boring’ things like talking to each other in coffee shops. Maybe there’s a place for more childlike play - I’m partial to the ball pit, myself.
