Facebook from Beyond
Sep 23rd, 2008 by Ben
I was just looking at the Facebook page of a friend of ours who died earlier in the year. People are still leaving wall posts for him, speaking to him beyond the grave.
This is a pretty well documented phenomenon, mainly on the MySpace profiles of people who have died.
The fact that people not only leave tributes and well-wishes for the family, but actually speak to the deceased suggests they believe in something beyond this life, that the person who has died can still hear them, and maybe even help them.
What an interesting connection between brand new technology and ancient beliefs about the spirit world and life beyond the grave.
I’m praying that those who seek to contact the dead through MySpace or Facebook will come to know the one who has been there and returned: Jesus. He can connect us with the afterlife, and more importantly, give us a direct line to God, so we can know God and be known by God.
