I think twitter was around before facebook, but due to the ubiquity of facebook I’m not sure what twitter has over ’status updates’ for those who like to broadcast their every move and thought.
I signed up to it thinking it would be a good way to stay in touch with people without getting a facebook account. http://twitter.com/freney
Turns out I don’t know that many people on it – which may of course change.
There are some interesting people whose blogs I read that also post on twitter, in quite a different way that on their site. That’s kinda cool.
I use Twitter. Mostly to keep up with comic creators on the web. I’d get more enjoyment from it if I had more real life friends on it. I’m committed to using it for the forseeable future.
There are many things in this world I am, but a quitter aint one. Using Twitter adds to my web presence and draws attention to my blog. It also enables me to be expressive in a way that Facebook statuses don’t do for me. Ultimately, I don’t care if anyone reads what I write on Twitter, because I’m enjoying just putting it down in writing.
i started it a couple of years ago before it really took off.
they’ve recently stopped with the free sms service in aus… that kinda sucks… i was get esv daily verse of the day on my mobile phone for the past couple of years.

But it’s more extensible, right? And lightweight?

Yeah, I’ve notice that, like Gruber, Merlin and Ze.
Is this going to takeoff like FB did? Everyone likes the next best thing.

Well, I’m glad to hear it, Joel. I agree about Facebook. I can’t put my finger on it, but there’s something much free-er about Twitter.
