One of the excellent Mac apps I use is 1Password. It’s one of those collect-your-passwords, fill-in-web-forms jobs that works without you having to think.
If you’re sick of entering passwords to login to websites and/or you’re worried about the security of your passwords stored in your browser (you should be), then take advantage of 1Password’s [...]

If you’re a Hebraist, get yourself over to Sam’s website and check out the beta of his Hebrew paradigm learning software.
It looks sweet (esoteric OS X font issues aside) and could be one of those things that goes global. After all, Sam wrote the app because there wasn’t anything to do the job already.
It’s [...]

I don’t care much for the default Accordance icon (Accordance is the premier Mac Bible software). So I changed it. If you want to do the same, here’s how.
First, get yourself an icon that you’d like to use. I use the one at right, which you can download and unzip by clicking the image. [...]

With jaunty reference to my previous post, here it is.
988 Megabytes of glory:
So, to some interesting data. First, viewing the concordance shows me that, disregarding conjunctions and prepositions, the highest count goes to the word ‘God’ with 14,601 occurrences in Briefing issues 000-300 (000 was the sneak-peak).
That’s a good start. [...]

I just had a great idea.
I’ve been using the Most Excellent DEVONthink to compile a massive, fully cross-referenced database of everything Christian or Bible-related that I have ever collected or written. All my Bible studies, talks, exegetical papers, Hebrew and Greek grammar notes, essays, readings in pdf, etc etc, are in the process of [...]

Time Machine just saved my be-hind. Rapidweaver flaked out and spewed its guts up all over the place (this is a metaphor), but a quick step into Time Machine and the old version of a file was quickly and painlessly restored.
It really is incredibly easy and whoever said that this was Apple’s greatest triumph [...]

I’m talking about Tech Lust. It’s insidious.
Phillip Jensen spoke this week at KYLC on various -isms, one of which was materialism (I’m missing tomorrow’s talk on consumerism, which is a real shame). He pointed out how thoroughly materialist (in both the philosophical and economic senses) our society is. It’s so much a part of [...]

Oak Tree software, who make the outstanding Accordance Bible software for Mac, have just announced they’ll be running training in Australia mid-year.
The dates are:
Moore Theological College, Saturday 19th July
Sydney area, Monday 21 July
This is good news. Lock the dates in if you’re available and using (or thinking about using) Accordance.
BTW, in other [...]

I’ve mentioned OmniFocus before (« that thar’s two links), when it was in private alpha. It’s now in public beta and if you order before Jan 8, you get it 50% off. If you own OmniOutliner Pro, you get a further 25% off.
I got a bit jack of the bugs in the alpha and dropped [...]
